In order for the 1,000s of small businesses that make up our industry to have a voice in Olympia, we need to unite our voices. Every extra, actor, agent, casting director, grip, electrician, producer, director, makeup, wardrobe, etc. must join the team and do their part.
WashingtonFilmWorks is the leader of our cause to keep and increase the film incentive offered by the State of Washington. They will direct us. They put out regular notifications asking people to get involved. Mostly, simple tasks like emailing your legislator. They even offer instructions for those who are unfamiliar with the process.
Please register with WashingtonFilmWorks. They need only your name, contact info and your legislative district. You’ll find a link to find your district and to register with WFW here: http://washingtonfilmworks.org/washington-filmworks-news/call-to-action-know-your-legislator-know-your-district
IF YOU ARE IN DISTRICT 6 … WFW has a special request of you NOW!
Washington Filmworks is working hard to finalize legislation to support an expansion of the production incentive program. We are writing to you today because our records indicate you live in the 6th District and are represented by Senator Michael Baumgartner.
Senator Baumgartner’s support is crucial to moving our proposed legislation forward. This is a CALL TO ACTION – please write or call Senator Baumgartner to express your support for an expansion of the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program and ask that he sign on the bill as a sponsor.
Senator Baumgartner’s contact info is:
Phone: 360 786-7610
Email: michael.baumgartner@
In writing to your Senator, share your personal story about the positive effect the Motion Picture Competitiveness Program has had on your film career in Spokane. Explain in your own words how film production in Spokane supports you and your family.
Additionally, if you know of any business owners or film professionals who live or work in the 6th district, please contact them and have them reach out to the Senator.
Please bcc Info@WashingtonFilmworks.org on your correspondence so that we can measure the impact of the letter writing campaign. Should you have any questions, please let me know.
Thanks for your continued support – and let’s Keep Film in WA.
