The Z Nation project, shooting in Spokane, WA, moved into the casting phase on March 6, 2014. Since then, as you might expect, Big Fish NW Talent has been a touch busy!
We have submitted more than 240 talent for the 21 principal characters that will be needed to fill out the first 2 episodes; including: series regulars, guest stars, co-stars and other miscellaneous day-playing characters. (Z Nation casting results are still pending at the time of this writing.)
Spawned by nothing more than a few mentions in the media, we’ve answered more than 1,800 email inquiries from hopeful and excited would-be zombie extras. Who, in turn, caused the edit of more than 1,700 pictures as we processed more than 870 new Extra-Fish’s portfolios into the ever-trusty AgencyPro sytem. (More zombie-wannabes come in every day. The work is on-going, including a backlog of filing of our talent-agent agreements & other forms.)
This past Saturday, some of the new-Fish, along with many pre-existing-Fish, participated in what was the largest audition I’ve ever worked. We sent more than 350 people, from as far away as Seattle, to a zombie audition/school. Naturally, we are hoping for the lion’s share of some 1,300 bookings for extras. (Results pending.)
All the while, there have been quite a number of non-zombie related still photography, commercial, industrial, student and other miscellaneous projects in various stages of completion.
I’ll ask that you say a prayer for us, and for those who love us, as we are now just 10 days away from the start of what will be a 16 week production for Z Nation Season 1. Throughout which, all of this work will continue … non-stop. More principal casting, more extras casting, more wrangling, more computer work, etc. Then, we’ll rest and catch our breath, for just a moment, before starting it all over again to begin season 2 (God willing).
For now, check in often to the Big Fish blog https://bigfishnw.com/blog/ to get up to speed on casting; and, of course, keep an eye out for Z Nation. come September on SyFy.
